Since the launch of the study in January, volunteers from Quire Consulting have discovered nearly 650 Black-owned businesses in Birmingham. Autumn Sanders, a representative of the consulting group, emphasized that this figure is just the beginning, indicating that many more such enterprises exist within the community.
The Birmingham Black Business Census aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the local Black business landscape, which is crucial for understanding the economic contributions and challenges faced by these entrepreneurs. By gathering data, the initiative seeks to foster growth and support for these businesses, ensuring they receive the attention and resources necessary to thrive.
The findings from the census will not only highlight the existing businesses but also help identify gaps in support and resources available to Black entrepreneurs. This effort reflects a broader commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within Birmingham’s economic framework, paving the way for a more vibrant and sustainable business ecosystem.
